5 Ways to Take Care of Your Teeth
Looking after your teeth is a lifelong habit — and you get out what you put in.

Caring for your teeth is a lifelong undertaking, and as with most things, you get out what you put in. Practising good oral health habits each day keeps your teeth healthy and helps head off future problems before they start. So what are the best ways to stop issues before they arise? Here are five to build into your routine.
1. Drink plenty of water
Water isn’t just the best drink for your overall health, it’s great for your teeth too. A glass after meals helps rinse away leftover food and acid before they have a chance to do harm. It’s the simplest habit on this list, and one of the most effective.
2. Don't forget your tongue
Plaque can build up on the tongue as well as the teeth, contributing to bad breath and other niggles. A gentle brush of the tongue each morning and night takes just a few seconds and leaves your whole mouth feeling fresher.
3. Always brush before bed
Morning brushing matters, but the night-time brush is essential. It clears away the bacteria and food debris accumulated through the day before you head off for several hours of sleep, when saliva flow drops and bacteria would otherwise have free rein.
4. Make flossing easy
Flossing can be tricky for young children and older adults alike. If traditional floss is a struggle, a ready-to-use dental flosser from the supermarket can make it far more manageable, and an easier habit is one you’re more likely to keep.
5. Visit us regularly
Even with excellent home habits, regular professional care matters. Aim to see us at least twice a year for a thorough clean and an exam to catch any developing problems early. If it’s time for your next visit, get in touch with TMJ Therapy Centre to book.
